The politics of medicine and dentistry in Europe means many nations with dually qualified surgeons working in our field do not have our specialty recognised in their country/Annex V. They are the nations shaded grey in on our map (right).
Recent esperience of the OMFS Section has been that when colleagues have tried to have OMFS for the first time in their nation, local vested interests successfully objected. As we believe that DOMFS provides excellent care to our patients by having uniquely trained surgeons practicing in their anatomical area of expertise, we will continue to provide support for colleagues wishing to establish our specialty in their nation.
