Test Your Own OMFS Training

At the top of this page is the link to an online questionnaire which trainees can use to ‘Test their own OMFS training’. Completing the questionnaire will only take a few minutes. The responses are stored on a secure server and individual details will never be shared with third parties. You can opt out of receiving e-mails related to your participation. 

The questions are based on a paper which was written by the European OMFS Trainees’ Forum of UEMS and published in the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery¹ https://www.bjoms.com/article/S0266-4356(24)00145-1/fulltext .  

These criteria have subsequently been used by trainers across Europe and found to be practical and pragmatic² https://www.bjoms.com/article/S0266-4356(25)00110-X/fulltext. 

If you are an OMFS trainee in Europe, you can look at this paper² https://www.bjoms.com/article/S0266-4356(25)00110-X/fulltext and get an idea of the Red Amber Green Rating of your nation’s OMFS training from the perspective of trainers.  

When you complete the questionnaire , you can download your answers as a PDF or print out the page. You can compare your report to the published RAG rating or discuss the details with your peer group of trainees, with your trainers or with those running your training programme. 

In the domains where your answers are not ‘Green’ you could discuss the options of how they could be improved with your training programme or your national OMFS training organisation. 

You could ask all the trainees in your nation to complete the questionnaire and contact the OMFS Section for your results which could be supplied on a national level without any identifying information. Responses from training rotations would only be included with permission from all the trainees in that rotation to avoid breaches of GDPR.

Are welcome to use this questionnaire by trainers or trainees whatever the nature of their OMFS training. It is recognised that OMFS training is very different across the world³.
