This is a joint project between EACMFS and OMFS Section of the Union of European Medical Specialists.

It will be a Single Best Answer (SBA) formative assessment. Formative assessments are designed to support and improve learning as an exam FOR learning rather than OF learning. Your score will be provided at the end of each assessment. Candidates will also receive their overall ranking and their ranking against their national and international peers.

The European Board Examination of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which leads to the title of Fellow of the European Board of OMFS, is a popular method of demonstrating post-specialist knowledge (it is not accessible to pre-specialist trainees).

This new Assessment give trainee colleagues the opportunity to test their knowledge and should reduce the worry about the MCQ part of the FEBOMFS exam. This Pre-Specialisation Assessment will include at least 10% of questions at the standard of day 1 ‘specialist’ which should reassure future EBOMFS candidates of the level of questions and help trainees to prepare for an exit exam (if there is one in their nation).

The Formative exam will consist of 50 questions over 90 minutes covering the complete curriculum of OMFS. EACMFS and the OMFS Section thanks to Medardtis for supporting this project through an unconditional grant.

The first Pre Specialization MCQ Assessment will take place online on Thursday, 8th September 8 p.m. – 9.30 p.m. CET.
