This is a summary of the two 2023 sittings of the Pre-Specialist Assessment which is run by the OMFS Secton of UEMS and supported by EACMFS using an unconditonal grant from Medartis®. We are very grateful to all those who took the time to prepare questions, participate in the exams and promote the activity. We hope everyone found it useful.

Summary of participation

A total of 264 trainees participated across three days, 10 took part in the pilot in Aachen, 192 participated on Thursday 7th September 2023 and 62 on Sunday 10th 2023, 42 registered for both days (and 5 completed the assessment twice but only their first paper counted). A total of 59 trainees registered but did not participate.

Year of training

Trainees of all levels participated in the assessment. Their scores are summarised in the following table and box and whisker chart.

National Participation

The nations with the most participants were Spain 46, UK 44, Germany 32, Italy 23, Belgium 16 and Pakistan 13. The full list is shown at the top of this page. The results for each participating country are shown in the box and whisker graph.
