UEMS Executive, OMFS Section and our French delegates work together to correct error in EU Directive 2005/36 Annex V

The OMFS Section always monitors Annex V for and changes. Last year, we were the first to spot that the French Specialty of Oral Surgery had mistakenly been place in Annex V under Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (basic medical and dental training). Oral Surgery is a dental specialty in most of Europe and its curriculum in France is similar to other nations. However, the confusion from the French authorities may have happened because French Oral Surgery is unique in being open to either doctors or dentists. UEMS Executive and OMFS Section contacted the French and European authorities pointing out this error. The error has now be corrected at the first opportunity.
